Teach Me How to Pray
A 3-Week Journey to Discover What Prayer Really Is
Ever feel like prayer is something you're supposed to do but don't really know how? Like there's some secret formula religious people have figured out that you missed? You're not alone.
Most of us have tried praying at some point—maybe during a crisis, maybe out of desperation, maybe because someone told us we should. But if we're honest, it often feels awkward, one-sided, or like we're talking to the ceiling. We wonder: Is anyone actually listening? Am I doing this wrong? Does this even work?
Here's what we've discovered: Prayer isn't a religious ritual you have to master. It's an invitation into relationship with the God who made you and knows you completely.
What You'll Discover
Over three weeks, we're going back to the basics of what prayer actually is. Not the religious-sounding, eyes-closed, formal version you might picture. We're talking about real, honest conversation with a God who genuinely wants to know you.
Week 1: Seeking God's Face (January 12)
What if prayer isn't about getting stuff from God, but about getting more of God Himself? We'll explore what it means to "seek God's face"—ancient language that describes something deeply personal and surprisingly relevant to our modern, disconnected lives.
Week 2: Practical Prayer (January 19)
Jesus' followers once asked him, "Teach us how to pray." His answer gives us a simple, powerful framework that works whether you've never prayed before or you've been praying for decades. No religious jargon required.
Week 3: Praying Together (January 26)
This week is different—we're not just talking about prayer, we're actually doing it together. No pressure, no performance, just a guided experience where we practice what we've learned in a safe, supportive environment.
Why This Matters for You
Maybe you're skeptical about the whole God thing. That's okay—we think asking honest questions is exactly what faith should look like. If God is real and personal, shouldn't we be able to experience His presence? This series gives you a low-pressure way to test that for yourself.
Or maybe you believe in God but prayer feels distant or mechanical. Like you're going through the motions but not connecting. We get it. This series shows you how to move from religious duty to genuine relationship.
Here's what prayer can do:
Replace anxiety with peace in a world that never stops demanding your attention
Give you a safe place to process the stuff you can't say out loud to anyone else
Connect you to something bigger than your own problems and perspectives
Transform you from the inside out in ways self-help never could
What Makes This Different
We're not going to use a bunch of church words you don't understand. We're not going to assume you already know how this works. And we're definitely not going to tell you that prayer is about getting God to give you what you want.
Instead, we're going back to what prayer was always meant to be: talking with the God who created you, knows you completely, and invites you into real relationship. No performance. No pretending. Just honest conversation with someone who actually listens.
This series is for:
The skeptic who wonders if prayer is just talking to yourself
The person who's tried prayer but felt like nothing happened
The believer who's lost the joy of simply being with God
Anyone who's ever thought, "I don't even know where to start"
